TANTALUM CARBIDE

Tantalum carbide is widely used in carbide additives, also as molding and anti- oxidation coating material, as well as an important raw material in cermet materials.

Classification:

Molecular weight: 192.96

Carbon content: 6.224%

Density: 14.5g/cm3

Melting point: 38759C

Boiling point: 5500°C

Tantalum carbide is a refractory compound which appears as dark brown or tawny powder, with the molecular weight of 192 86, theoretical content of combined -carbon of 6.224%, density of 14- 14.5g/cm3, melting point of 3875- 4150°C, boiling point of 5500C. It does not dissolve in various acids (except the mixture of hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid). Tantalum carbide has good chemical stability. It has a high oxidation resistance when heated to 1000- 1100°C in the air. Tantalum carbide is widely used in carbide additives, also as molding and anti- oxidation coating material, as well as an important raw material in cermet materials.
