Titanium carbide appears as gray metal powder, with the molecular weight of 59.91, theoretic content of combined carbon of 20.05%,density of 4.93g/cm3, melting point at 3160°C, and boiling point at 4300°C . It has good thermal conductivity, high hardness and good chemical stability. It does not react upon acides at room temperature, but is soluble in a mixture of nitric acid and hydrofluoric acid.
